   In search for superior men or beings in ancient times, we first analyse the chapter Genesis of the Old testament. By simply reading what is written, a spectacular story emerges: the Patriarchs of before the Flood lived extremely long. Moreover, when presented graphically it becomes clear that in one way or the other mankind was deliberately re-engineered in order to reduce the lifespan of man. The human being seems to be no more than a tiny creature, under the wardship of superior lords.

   In the second chapter we visit Sumer. The desert sand has brought about a huge amount of invaluable information in the form of texts written on clay tablets. Even the Biblical Flood was among these stories. Sumer, the people with tens of first-of-a-kind inventions appeared to be a highly civilized society, suddenly present in history without any clear predevelopment. Everything seems to indicate that superior beings- gods- lived among the ordinary people. Did they bring knowledge to the Earth? Even the world expert on Sumer, Kramer, is confused when reading the old Sumerian texts while translating: he apologizes to the Sumerian gods of not being able to provide a correct translation since what he is reading on these clay tablets is past all believe. 

From time to time UN environmental conferences send alarming messages to the world: producing more carbon dioxide will further increase the already high global temperature. As former US vice-president Al Gore forecasted, all kind of misery will torture the world’s population if we do not act now! Are they right? Are we heading for a catastrophe? Since everyone knows it is hardly possible to predict the weather a few days ahead, may we trust predictions for the next decades or centuries? What proof is provided for these extremely important predictions? Bert Thurlings took upon himself a search expedition in the scientific climate literature. Patiently and persistently he worked himself through an immense amount of literature, but to his surprise he could not find any straightforward experimental evidence of carbon dioxide causing global temperature to change. On the contrary, scientific evidence from ice cores available in peer reviewed periodicals show the opposite: carbon dioxide follows changes in temperature. Did Gore know this when he proudly accepted the Nobel Prize? Given the scientific literature he had access to, the answer is positive. Does this imply that there is no need to counteract the ever increasing carbon dioxide concentration? The paradoxical answer is that, despite the lacking of any evidence of the warming effect of carbon dioxide, the gas dangerously poisons the air. In a few centuries time the atmosphere will be spoiled: too less oxygen, too much carbon dioxide, too many people. Unfortunately, the future of mankind doesn’t look very fanciful.
