According to written history, the temple of Athens on the Acropolis was been built in the 5th
century BC but in the Critias, Plato,
who lived from 427 - 347 BC, mentions that the city Athens was
founded in 9640 BC. In that time the Acropolis was not yet
a table top mountain, but
was part of a hilly
landscape on which there was very fertile agricultural
soil.
The climate had been very moderate, different to now. But a
disaster took place and in one
night with exceptionally violent rains and severe earthquakes, the soil was washed away entirely. From then on,
only the
hard rock table top mountain remained.
The state of Athens
had a reputation as it was the
only state that showed resistance to the enormous supremacy of the army of Atlantis
that threatened
Europe. Athens
succeeded in conquering this powerful
army. The goddess Athena
founded Sais in Egypt and this kick-started the development of Egypt, 1000 years
after the founding of Athens.
