In the small village of Rudston to the east of York In the north of
England, the largest megalith of
Great Britain is found. Where it came from and how old it is, are not known
facts, but there a church was built next to it indicating that this was a holy
site.
The nearest quarry is about 15 km away. The monolith is about
9
meters long, and probably weighs 40 tons. Its top has been
protected with a metal shield in order to prevent erosion.
