High on a protruding rock near the village Ollantaytambo in
Peru there is a
mysterious temple- or fortress complex. The complex consists of a
number of ascending terraces alongside which runs a path that provides entrance
to the highest part. There are a large number of houses or chambers which are
made of rough blocks of stone. Besides that, there are a number of very peculiar
constructions. First, there is a long wall along a horizontal path which
consists of the finest modelled stones in the
whole of South-America: as if they are made of polished steel. At the
outer point, there is a trapezium shaped gate through which ones enters a
strange, randomly organised site: large megaliths lay scattered around as if the
construction was never finished, or as if it had been destroyed by a gigantic
earthquake. In between all of this, there is an unusual 3 metre high wall about
7
metres in length which consists of five megaliths. This
strange wall seems to serve no other purpose than to impress, and it certainly
does. The stones of this wall are believed to originate from mountains on the
other side of the valley.

Ollantaytambo
perches on a protruding rock. The entrance path runs alongside the
terraces |

This extremely
beautiful wall and trapezium-shaped gate make an enormous impression on any
visitor to the complex. |

To reach the
higher part of the site one must pass through this beautiful gate. The stones
have a steel-like appearance and fit seamless together. |

This
3
meters high wall is found in the most centre part of the
site. It consists of 6 giant stones, in between which there are smaller stones
that serve as joints. It is a very peculiar construction that seems to serve no
other purpose than to impress the visitor.
|

At an inaccessible
place at the rim of the highest part of the site, this wall is
found, constructed with perfectly fitting stones identical to those in
Egypt and in Eastern Island. |

Who ever built
this wall is unknown, but it is proof of virtuous construction technology that
has been matched even not today. |
