Close to Sacsayhuaman at Cusco in Peru there is a
strange rock formation called Quenko. In a sloped area, overgrown with
grass, hard stone rocky outcrops are found. Some of them are carved in a
peculiar way, as though someone has dug out the rock with a snow shovel. But the
material is extremely hard. How this was achieved is a complete mystery.
Underneath the rock is a small chamber, apparently artificially carved from the
rock. A throne-like construction fills the room, but there is hardly enough
space for it to have been used as a throne hall.
Who created this
curious site and how it was done remains a mystery.
