Many megalithic buildings have been found in the Caucasian Mountains (in between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea). These dolmens have a shape different from
those in West-Europe, Korea and India. Most
of them have a rectangular shape and consists of precisely dressed large stones,
often with a hole in their façade. The megaliths (more than 3000) are at least
4000 years old.
It is believed that these dolmens once served as tomb, but any proof
is lacking. Typically, the entrance of a Caucasian dolmen is always at the
south-side (just as with the Dutch hunebeds).
