Madain Saleh is, like Petra in
Jordan, a very remarkable city.
Madain Saleh is an old city in Saudi-Arabia. It is a sister city of
Petra, built by
the Nabateans more than 2000 years ago. It is located about 400 kilometres to the
north-west of Medina and 500 kilometres to the
south of Petra.
It is a city without houses, made up of only temples
and tombs which all have been hewn from the rocks. The site is about
13 km
long.
Madain
Saleh is the most important archaeological site of Saudi
Arabia.
